49 years after the American League adopted the designated hitter rule, it finally comes to the National League and becomes a league-wide rule.

Shohei Ohtani became the 1st player in MLB history to throw the first pitch for his team and leadoff as the team's first hitter of the game.

Rodon with a very good first outing for the Giants, even though Miami did come back and win 2-1: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 12 K.

Rick Manning is still calling the Cleveland team "the Tribe" on their broadcasts.

Not sure, but it went uncorrected. Cleveland with two bloops to take a 2-run lead in the seventh.

Would be nice to come home in sole possession of first especially with everyone's hot new crushes. Detroit and the Twinkies floundering down at the bottom of the standings.

Steven Kwan is a sensation over 4 games. Just hit a bases-loaded triple to put Cleveland up 4.

Athletic (paywall) article on Kwan's record setting start to his MLB career. He's done what no one has ever done before since at least the inception of the AL.

Edit: for those who love contact hitter, this guy has been as good as it gets.

Super cold day in Minny. Looks like about 500 in attendance. Kershaw on. Dodgers jumped on Chris Paddack for an early 3-0 lead. Paddack is pure meat.

Paddack rights the ship. Still not impressed. Sitting at 92. Decent slider. But, meh.

Kershaw perfect through 7, and it looks like his day is done.

Dodgers win 7-0. Four late solo shots, including back-to-back-to-back in the 8th.

Sad day for baseball when a pitcher has seven perfect innings and is pulled despite only throwing 80 pitches. I don't care what the backdrop is.

Boston hangs on to beat the Tigers after a scary bottom of the 8th, which included a bases-loaded HBP of Austin Meadows.
