Read an interesting story on the MLB Trade Rumors site. I never realized this.
Some minor league players have sued MLB over the fact that they don't get paid to show up for and participate in spring training. They don't get anything, even meal money. Suit is expected to go before a judge around June 1.
Story said the MLB lawyer representing the owners told the judge at a pretrial hearing that MLB considers the players "training" to be their compensation and values it at 2,200 dollars a week.
Words just fail me.
