I had an idea for next year’s Field of Dreams Game. I sent this idea to the Marquee Network hoping they could pass it up the chain to the Cubs management. I told them I remembered that the Cubs had a local prospect on their 1970 team who had a similar experience not unlike Archibald “Moonlight” Graham. The player was Roe Skidmore who appeared in one game for the 1970 Cubs, pinch hit in a game in late September, got a base hit in his only plate appearance, was promptly erased on a force play and never appeared in another major league game again. I thought it would be cool to honor him in some way in the 2022 Field of Dreams Game. Maybe make him an honorary captain, let him walk out of the corn with the team. Maybe hand in the line up card or toss out the first pitch. Whaddya think?
