The White Sox for the first 2 decades of the new league were the most popular franchise in the AL. and maybe all of Baseball. Checking the records, the Sox led the league in attendance almost every year, not sure how they compared to the NL. Of course we all know the franchise came tumbling down after the 1919 Black Sox scandal and it took 3 decades for them to put competitive teams out on the field and 4 decades before they won the pennant. They did have a few years in the 30s under Jimmy Dykes where they finished above .500 but never coming close to competing with the Yankees.
If the 1919 scandal hadn't happened, I'm pretty sure the Sox would have won more than a few more pennants and some more World Series championships.
Bottom line is we have to thank Charles Comiskey and Ban Johnson forming the new league, if that hadn't happened we would all be Cub fans, mercy.
Now coming up to bat for the White Sox is the Mighty Mite, Nelson Fox.
