Diekman gotta Diekman... Minute they put him in I had a bad feeling. He's just not a high pressure guy...

Nellie had more doubles than strikeouts every year from 1950 to 1963, and more triples (12) than strikeouts (11) in 1951 (682 plate appearances.)

Hopefully he gets DFA’d when Crochet comes back.

When 200Ks a year isn't even anything to sneeze at anymore, is this as disgraceful as it used to be?

Hindsight is 20/20, but I was a little surprised that they left Lance in to face Tucker for a third time in the sixth. Graveman walking Maldanado with two outs and no one on in the 7th was bad. And Benintendi looked like he had never played LF in that ballpark previously.

Giolito has thrown some gems in Houston in past years. Hopefully he pitches another one this afternoon.

              My $0.02-
              • I don't like using Graveman in back-to-back games, thought Grifol would go with Kelly or Ruiz there.
              • Dieckman sucks- hopefully gone when Crochet is back- another $5M down the toilet, while Reese McGuire starts for the BoSox.
              • Not sure what happened on that flare to LF, but if Benintendi gets to that one- it's a very different game.
              • Starting to get optimistic about Moncada- nice 3 hit night
              • Not optimistic about Robert at the plate- really seems to have no plan or approach- surprising now that he's entering his 4th season in MLB

I couldn't help but think at least the 2 I saw would have been easy groundouts last year.

Robert I think had 9 swinging strikes in his first 3 at bats. I’m not all that worried though, we’ve seen this before and he always snaps out of it. It seems like any time he has extended time off (the start of a season, or coming back from injury) he always looks like this where he swings 3 inches above every slider out of the zone. But in the end he ends up okay.

There were two balls to LF that off the bat I thought were going to be caught, and then Benintendi looked like he was jogging towards the ball and ended up short. I don’t know if he wasn’t seeing the ball well or what because that was weird and it cost them the game. Maybe put Eloy out there in LF tonight.

Diekman sucks and Graveman should not be used in back-to-back games. Hopefully Grifol learns quickly. If Dieckman keeps pitching like this he might not have to wait for Crochet to return before he’s DFAed. I’d rather see Banks.

It seemed to me that the graveman was spooked by the clock.

Moncada had 3 hits, which is nice to see.

Lynn was starting to tire, perhaps. I'd bet he wasn't happy with the outcome.

They are the champs, it's what they do, keep coming

In Benintendi’s case that’s what happened in KC when he replaced Gordon. LF was a no worry position with Gordon out there, but Rolaids consumption increased when the switch was made. He didn’t have the same jump on the ball and that 2 or 3 feet started to see balls drop or get past him that otherwise Gordon would have made look routine or have a chance to flag down with the occasional highlight reel play. He’s dependable but this coupled with age may lead to us seeing him playing a lot of caroms off the outfield wall and down in the corner. I’m hoping his stick can overcome his fielding deficiencies.

As far as Robert is is concerned, this is the nature of the beast. When he gets ahold of one he looks like Zeus, but when his swing from the heels nature flails away, he can look like an ball cap eye covered little leaguer guessing and missing in a major way.

I’ve got faith in these guys, but yes, let’s figure out that BP lickity split or we’re gonna lose aiot of games after the 7th inning.

I don't get the connection. The fact that they're paid insane amounts of money means that striking out 4 times in a game is okay?

No. 200Ks as in 200 strikeouts. My bad.

Jomboy breaks down the fly ball that Benintendi probably should have caught that changed the game:
