Looks like option #3 is tomorrow’s starter. Rodon is nowhere to be found.

Very excited to see Stiever go. Here I was thinking we'd seen all our new toys for the year.

      • Detroit's lineup is horrible enough that it could hide Stiever's deficiencies. All the luck to the kid, but I'm on record that we should have sold high on him and got another starter.

        • Postseason could be a challenge for managing a staff.

MLB and MLBPA are close to a deal to eliminate days off between games in the postseason, the WS being the exception.

At the very bottom of the story.

          • One reason to consider starting Lopez on Thursday is his day/night splits are dramatic. He pitches MUCH better during the day.

Day Splits the last two years:

            2018 3.45 ERA 91 K 101 IP 11 HR .211 BAA
            2019 4.29 ERA 88 K 86 IP 14 HR .249 BAA.

            Night splits:

            2018 4.45 ERA 60 K 87 IP .14 HR 260 BAA
            2019 6.34 ERA 81 K 98 IP 21 HR .303 BAA
Riding Shotgun on the Sox Bandwagon since before there was an Internet...

              I've never considered that. Crazy.

Just decided to give it a look and there it was staring me in the face.

I’m glad you brought that to our attention. Based on this, if Keuchel isn’t ready, then starting López Thursday seems like the best option.

Here’s a split that makes me want Lopez nowhere near that game Thursday.

Minnesota’s cumulative slash against Reynaldo Lopez in his career:

                    .272/.347/.533

Career ERA vs. the Twins: 6.44
Career WHIP vs. the Twins: 1.523

                    • Lucas historically bad against the Twins and yet we're a strong favorite for you gamblers tonight. Need your best, Gio.

                      • Lopez is starting tomorrow. I probably won't be able to watch it, and now I don't mind. Better to write it off early and be pleasantly surprised.
