  • Cease Cy Young finalist update: finishes 2nd

Finalists for Cy Young, MVP Revealed Among 2022 MLB Awards - Sports Illustrated

But we should not be surprised. Verlander might get it since he is twice Dylan's age.......

Age probably matters, but it matters so much more that Verlander pitched for the champs and cease couldn't get this trash heap of a team into the playoffs.

Fair point, but Verlander had a helluva year too.

Voting on the awards takes place before the playoffs begin.

Cease had a great year but he was easily the second best pitcher in the AL. He should finish second easily but Verlander earned it

Yea I understand that, but the point still stands. You could clearly see the Astros were the cream of the crop and the Sox struggled all year despite Cease's excellence.

For myself, I always feel greasy voting someone as the best player on a losing team. I think this is one of the hardest years for me to hold that opinion though when trying to differentiate Ohtani from Judge.

Cease was one of the few bright spots on this team - looking forward to seeing what he does as an encore.

He finished second in voting to Verlander. Very nice all things considered.

Anyone who voted Manoah second should lose their vote.
