  • Past Sox coach question

One of my Sox fan buddies called me tonight. He was in a bar in Texas discussing the Sox and they were thinking there was Coach (kind of long-time with the team) who was notorious for stealing signs. HE and his buddy could not remember who it was. i Googled it and the only result was Jack McDowell's claim about LaRussa (he never played for LaRussa).

Does anyone know who they were thinking of?

    Joe Nossek.
Nellie had more doubles than strikeouts every year from 1950 to 1963, and more triples (12) than strikeouts (11) in 1951 (682 plate appearances.)

But Nossek did it legitimately. He just watched the signs being flashed and figured them out. No cameras or radios.
