I don’t know exactly what “run value” is, but it’s some sort of metric that Statcast uses to grade a pitcher’s individual pitches. Presumably based on things like the amount of movement and quality of contact (or lack thereof). Cease’s slider leads MLB at -30 run value (negative is good). The next closest pitch is Corbin Burnes’s cutter… at -19. No other pitch is better than -16.
