Stressful ninth, but the rest was nice.

My hope for a 5-2 homestand was just that...a hope.

Nice to see that thing called a, what was that, a Home Run. Yup, that’s it. Tony lives to use the facilities for another day. Water bill ain’t so bad when you use someone else’s water to flush.

I’m not going to retract anything I wrote previously about the urgency with which the team must play - and show results - in their upcoming games. Going 1-3 at home against the Orioles was disastrous; winning the fourth game merely prevented it from being catastrophic.

They need to somehow avert disaster on this west coast road trip, and then go 12-7 against the division, because winning the division is likely the only path to the postseason.

The Sox are behind Texas in the race for the third wild card; they are five games back of Tampa who presently has the third wild card.

Going into Colorado on July 26 with something less than a .500 record is grounds for focusing on reloading for 2023.

There's no excuse for this weekend's debacle. But laying an egg in Anaheim would be even more ridiculous. The Orioles are a hungry, young team, while the Angels are just blah. Emphasis on young - going old is never the answer.
