    Well that was fun.

The Tigers are not good. Still, it’s an accomplishment to sweep another team on the road so convincingly.

Moncada wins the pick to click, right?

One of those beautiful feel good days that make you think there is reason for real hope. Now go and do something that couldn't be done last year which is win at Houston.

Nice to see that this team is capable of stomping on a bad team. There are a lot of games coming up against bad teams. Even though they can be frustrating as all hell to watch, this team is going to be contending until the end.

The offense was fun to watch, but gotta give a shout out to Velasquez and especially Davis Martin, who combined for 8 shutout innings. Martin has been the surprise of the season out of the farm system. A guy most of us had barely heard of, coming up and contributing in a big way at the major league level.

Let us pray today was the beginning of Moncada breaking out. Him hitting and getting on base would really make a difference moving forward.

Also, I’m fine with running out the Velasquez - Martin tandem again.

In addition, has Mendick done anything not to have earned the starting 2B job when TA returns?

Harrison’s production has improved recently, but it’s hard to argue with Mendick’s .812 OPS.

The only arguments for keeping Leury are his contract and his defensive versatility, including at SS and CF. The fact that he bats LH is NOT a legitimate argument for retaining him, given that throughout his career he’s been bad hitting LH and it’s gotten worse in recent years.

The Sox appear to have some middle infield depth, particularly at 2B. Yolbert Sanchez keeps hitting, and there’s a logjam at Birmingham with Jose Rodriguez and Lenyn Sosa.

I suspect Mendick would be sent down because he still has options, but it would be nice to be surprised.

I'm thinking along the same lines with Mendick. He's been very good in the time filling in for Anderson. He may be at least a partial answer to the hole perceived at 2B. Stone said much the same late in this game.

It was very good to see a laugher for once. I was in and out, and missed the first couple of innings, and was glad to see the score when I got home. It was 7- 0 when I came home.

They both pitched very well today. But with Lynn, Gio, Kopech, Cease and Cueto as your 1-5, not sure where they fit (unless you go with a 6-slot rotation). Velasquez, Martin, Lopez, Banks and Lambert have all pitched well recently and can all give you multiple innings out of the bullpen - that's a real luxury. I'm guessing one of them goes back to Charlotte when Anderson is activated.

These last 7 days have been amazing for an offense that seemed dead in the water not that long ago . now, instead of dreading the Houston & Toronto series, i'm looking forward to it . we'll see how things play out i guess, but confidence is high.

The team's splits over the past week have been among the best in baseball during that time. If we had just gotten more pitching against the Dodgers and Rangers, we'd be back to .500 or better by now. Oh well. We still have 101 games left. Plenty of time to keep righting the ship.

Guessing Martin and/or lambert goes down when others start to return. Better to get them and keep them stretched out as a 6th starter in case of need. V V can be the long reliever with Banks and Lopez also.. Banks would be next man out when other pitchers come back. By all reports Bummer will only be gone the two weeks.

I think Lopez gets a shot at closer if Liam is gone for more than a few weeks. Kelly, Bummer and Graveman can all cover that role too, but if Lopez can handle the pressure then they go 4 deep at the end of ballgames.

Very nice win. Very relaxing. I finished putting the groceries away and flipped on the game just as Moncada was batting in the 1st. I imagine there were some people who were following at work on box score/gamecast who tuned in late and were like "YAY 3-0. Let's see how that happened... SAY WHAT?!?!?!?"

Always nice to have a blowout before an off day. I assume they fly tonight and take tomorrow to practice and chill. Maybe TLR promised them an off day in Houston if they swept. TA due back next week and Eloy hopefully a week after that...

                        The possibilities are mind boggling...

Agreed that Lambert and especially Martin should stay stretched out in Charlotte. This isn't the last time the Sox are going to need an extra starter, and Martin has proven himself to be the top option for that role.

Remember, Banks right now is the only LH reliever in the bullpen. I bet he stays even after Bummer is back. Eventually Hahn is going to have to look outside the organization for that second LH reliever. No reason he has to wait until the deadline when it's clear there's a problem.

Mendick has proven himself to be the top 2B option on the roster, and the only one who is actually hitting the ball consistently. I don't think he goes anywhere, unless his bat goes cold over the next couple weeks. When TA comes back it'll likely be a RP going down (they currently have 14), but when Eloy returns that's when a decision is going to have to be made. Either Harrison finds himself DFA'ed, or there will be a phantom IL stint in order to keep him around.

My choice once TA returns would be to have Mendick at 2B. He has deserved the job and it would be demoralizing to send him to the minors. Then I would DFA Harrison if we need to make a roster spot.
Leury is better than Harrison. He plays almost every field position and does get hot at the plate periodically.
