That's 3 straight wins against quality teams. Kopech was masterful - he know has pitched one-hitters against the Yankees (twice) and Dodgers this season.

Really, Roberts lost this game when he brought in Price in the 6th. It made it an easy decision to pinch hit Pollock for Sheets. So he basically chose to face Pollock against a LHP over facing Sheets against a RHP - which was a poor decision on his part. It's nice to see that the Sox can still pound on mediocre LH relievers, though it would be nice if they could do a little more damage against mediocre RH starters.

Two big DPs snuffed any Dodger hopes. Bummer still makes me nervous.

Especially since Pollock knows the LAD pitchers. Not gonna argue. Nice win all around. Great pitching obviously and to finally break through in the 6th was awesome and all of it coming with 2-outs. McGuire got his first hit against LHP all year also and it drove in the 4th run.

Bullpen doing bullpen things doesn't hurt either.

12 straight appearances without giving up an ER for Bummer, and the walk he gave up tonight was the first one he's given up during that stretch. He momentarily lost his command, but he regained it at the perfect time to deliver 3-straight perfect pitches to get the strikeout.

So our lineup is better without Sheets...let's not overcomplicate it. What a win though!

While that’s true, I think the bigger factor was that our lineup is better against LHP. Sheets being out of the lineup wasn’t responsible for Burger getting his only hit of the game. Even McGuire got his hit off the LHP (though he’s hitting like .050 off them so it’s not like this is a trend).

Maybe the biggest factor is that the Sox do well against former Cy Young winning LHPs that are now past their prime. There’s another pitcher I know of who fits that description whose new team is on the Sox schedule in the second half!

What a great game, and win, against a really good team . I think that LaRussa had a good game, along with his players . pitching & defense, with some offense thrown in, what a concept . both Tony Gonsolin & Tyler Anderson are good, but at least Anderson is a lefty . I really think that the Sox can take this series.

Looks like TLR is now stabilizing the top of the order with the Mendick/Vaughn/Robert/Abreu along with getting Burger in the line up over other options- good to see.

Looking at the Sox active roster- I think Harrison will be DFA'd when TA comes back and Sheets will go to Charlotte when Eloy is back. The only other options are to send Mendick and/or Burger down- but I think they have forced their way on to the active roster with their performance. We'll then have $23M of payroll on DFA'd players- with Grandal the last "black hole" on the roster.

I agree with all of the roster moves you have suggested especially the part with Moncada going to the bench for Burger.

We'll see how it goes. Moncada showing some signs of life with the bat recently. Burger deserves to play especially against LHP, but hopefully there is room for both of them going forward. I realize some people have given up on Yoan. I'm not one of them and I expect him to progress to the mean as the season moves on.

Leury Garcia says hello! He has been worse than Harrison both by WAR (-0.9 vs -0.3) and OPS (.464 vs .527), but he seemingly has the same lifetime contract that TLR does.

Leury plays more positions and is due more money because of his multi-year contract.

Doesn't change the fact that he's a black hole on the roster right now.

I like Burger as our 3rd baseman vs. LHP, but I would still want Moncada out there vs. RHP- he provides better defense and better offense versus Burger's slash line vs. RHP (.207/.329/.582).- when Eloy comes back, and with Pollock/Engel covering RF- Vaughn will be taking most of the DH ABs- so I see Burger as primarily a platoon 3rd baseman and pinch hitter off the bench.

One of the more mystifying moves by Hahn- seems like the Sox were primarily bidding versus themselves for Leury- why they would sign him to anything beyond 1 season is crazy.
