*OFFICIAL* 5/31/22 Bad Baserunning JAYS 6 SOX 5 Postgamer
Giolito is a headcase who cannot hold a lead against a good team...that's number one. Number two and more importantly we need a new manager. This team sucks at fundamentals in every way. This is abysmal. Pissed a game away when our offense explodes for 5 runs. And has there been a worse team at bases loaded 0 out situations? It is uncanny how bad we are at executing. Damn!

This is not accurate.
Darryl Boston is a horrible coach and Mendick is a moron.
He was mere inches away from getting out of that gem. It happens.
Perhaps it is the frustration talking but you are the ace of the staff in the first game of a big road series and you know your best offensive player is out...and your team battles back to give you a lead in the 5th. Gotta find a way to shut it down there. I know there were some tight calls but at some point gotta stop making excuses and get the job done. This is what separates true aces from the rest.

Beat me to it. This situation has to be discussed at length in spring training. It has to be taught in the minor league system. Failing that, Mendick has to know it on his own. I know it and I'm an over-the-hill White Sox fan.
If you're going to second on a fly ball to LF, if you see the throw is on line, you return to first. Two morons.
When playing without supposedly our 4 best players, it's going to be hard to win games. I said supposedly because I'm not sure about Eloy and Moncada, I guess AV has probably moved ahead of those 2.
Robert was cleared to play yesterday, why was he not in the lineup?

..... being managed and coached by morons.
I have qustioned for decades what is being taught and by whom in the White Sox Minor League system.

Vaughn seems like he might be everything Eloy was touted to be.

""La Russa said Mendick apologized after the game, but the manager didn’t fault his shortstop."" and THIS is why tlr needs to gtfo! he didn't fault a player who should have learned what to do in high school.
Burger and Sheets were a combined 1-10 with nine runners left on base. Along with Giolito getting squeezed, I think that’s where the game was really lost.

The situation that needs to be addressed is that, for years and years now, our team consistently comes out of Spring training seemingly unprepared for regular season baseball, lacking simple fundamentals like fielding and bunting, and that lack of fundamentals carries on throughout the season. Not to mention that our prospects all seem to have the same problems. We have an organizational problem with teaching and reinforcing the basics. It cannot be the most preposterous coincidence that free agents come here and seemingly immediately become free-swinging hack artists at the plate, and become incapable of taking a walk. Our discipline is non-existent, and it's got to be a coaching/philosophy issue.
Maybe not a popular opinion, but there'd have been nothing wrong with Mendick's play if McGuire had hustled home. That's something we were taught in Little League, whenever there's a chance of someone getting thrown out before you cross the plate with two outs.
No matter who you blame, that was one of the more demoralizing plays in recent memory.

Eloy was my favorite player for a while, but once he strings a healthy few months together, I'm in favor of getting what they can for him. In addition to Vaughn's pretty exceptional plate approach, he runs a much lower risk of blowing out Robert's knee in a senseless collision, which seems just a matter of time with Jimenez out there.
