  • *OFFICIAL* 5/3/22 Cold Wet Night at the Urinal SOX 3 CUBS 1 Postgamer

Any win is a good win, particularly with the B team lineup. Kopech pitched well. Just needs to get more efficient.

Hard to know what to make of a game in which the number one storyline was the weather. Sox starters have given up 0 runs in 3 of the last 4 games. The other was Dallas Keuchel.

All the pitchers looked good today, even Ruiz who gave up the run threw one of the nastiest changeups you’ll ever see. Nice to see Foster respond well to some higher leverage work, filling in for Graveman who has been used a lot recently. He’s looked better than ever so far this year.

Foster was used in a fair amount of high pressure situations two years ago before he struggled last year. Now that he's mastering his pitches, he should be fine. He has been there before.

Middle of the bullpen continues to be a strength and now that the late inning guys are finding their groove we should see a lot good outings from the bullpen.

Nice to get the win on a miserable night.

Kopech pitched very well and a win is a win. Always nice to win in that ballpark against that team.

That said, the Cubs were not sending their best to the mound last night and the Sox only scoring 3 runs is worrying.

The weather made it painful to watch, even on TV.

I think we should not judge the players' (especially the Pitchers) performances. The weather was the Mother of all Interrupters.

              In that weather?! Really

As a glass-half-full kinda guy, I prefer to only judge the pitching performances, and not the hitting performances from this game.

Could explain the high Haggis and kilt sales. Only thing that was missing was bagpipes playing “Take me out to the ballgame”.

TA’s shot could be rightly called a “”Homer in the Glowmin”..

Good to see Foster back in form. He was really good in 2020.

I'm not sure exactly what it was, but I never bought into Foster in 2020. It seemed like he was getting hit harder than the results would indicate, like there were a lot of warning track fly outs or something. Then 2021 happened, and I wasn't surprised he came crashing down.

The version we're watching this year seems more sustainable. I don't know specifically if he's doing anything different mechanically, but his ground ball rate is way up and the quality of contact is much lower, even though the K-rate is down a tad.

Cease was mic'd up last night and called the TA homerun, even the exact location.

Foster pitched a lot of high leverage innings in 2020; perhaps he got lucky, but showed at least he was mentally capable of those innings. His K rate is fine. K rates as the "be all end all" are kind of yesterday's analytics.

I wonder if that was the worst weather ever for a crosstown game since interleague play began in 1997. I know "worst" is subjective, but usually these games are in the summer and not in early May.

Sox need to win again today. Despite winning 3 of their last 4, they're still 4.5 games back and can't afford to slip much further behind Minnesota.
