I saw on the sports segment of the local NBC news that after the game some enterprising Sox fan edited the Tigers' Wikipedia page to show the "Principal Owner" of the team to be Tim Anderson. Hilarious

That's about as good as I've seen Giolito pitch. Really good bounceback. Hopefully he gets his season on track with this start because coming in his numbers weren't good.
The Cubs have lined them up for us, and it's not going to be an easy weekend. Lester, Hendricks, and Darvish are all pitching out of their minds right now. More so than final results, this is simply just a test for the offense. They've been great against bad pitchers but have struggled mightily when tested. If there's a repeat of what the Cardinals starters were able to do to us, we're going to need to make some very serious adjustments.
"Somber sweep" - LOL. Brings back the memories. Idiots.
It's really nice to see the Sox get good mileage out of several 2nd tier prospects. It's been a long-time coming. They earned it; and it's essential to contend in this era. The pen is phenomenal; even the maligned Jace Fry has been effective, except for 2 bad outings.

His performance today and his postgame quotes about McCann vindicate my assertion that RR screwed up in the opener by having Grandal catch him. Gio wants McCann as his personal catcher and performs better with him.

Unpolitical of Gio to say it out loud, but if the TV broadcasters are saying it, it's not a state secret. So the Big Acquisition is under the bus, do we care?

Maybe the best solution is to pay McCann starter money this offseason and keep both him and Grandal. The great teams find ways to keep players in the lineup; McCann has been a better hitter this year than Encarnación.

Encarnacion will be gone next year. McCann will be competing for at bats at DH with Abreu/Vaughn.

Looks to me like the Sox have their catcher of the future and his backup. They should cash out Grandal (unload his salary) to pay McCann rather than letting McCann walk. If they were the Yankees or the Dodgers maybe they could keep both.
