The slugging is nice when it happens.

It is, but I'm not sure we played much better on offense than the last two games. We just ran into a rookie having a Rick Ankiel level meltdown in his debut. Take that streak of luck away, and we're looking at a run off 4 hits, which mirrors the previous two games in futility.

The Sox have enough good hitters who slug that we’re going to see some good crooked numbers generated when facing struggling pitchers.

The problem is that if the homers aren’t flying, their offense isn’t sufficiently consistent or diversified to scratch out enough consecutive singles and doubles to score runs in ones and twos multiple times per game.

It’s nice to avoid the sweep.

Let’s sweep Detroit and also hope that the Cardinals dig deep into the Cubs’ bullpen so that they are gassed headed into our intra-city tilt next weekend.

Heck of a big inning. Nice to get back in the W column. Back to .500, back to third place. Offense is mostly healthy. So let's start doing some damage.

There was nothing lucky (or cheap) about any of the four blasts.

They were batting practice pitches from a guy that was way off the plate or right down central. The guy threw 10 inches off the plate to both sides and spiked his breaking pitch 50 feet every pitch that wasn't down the exact middle of the plate. Moncada even took one there before realizing what was happening. Once he did, everyone knew what to do. There isn't a major leaguer that doesn't hit that guy out of the park knowing what's happening. It's batting practice, you just have to wait for it down central.

4 consecutive HRs, nice to see but it's time to start playing some real baseball as we are coming down to crunch time. There are only 38 games left, the boys need some extended time of winning games like 14 or so out of the next 20 and take our chances from there.

Got a nice set of games coming up. Other than the Cubs series every other team the next two weeks is not very good. In fact of the next 24 the Sox only play two teams currently with winning records - the Twinkies and the Cubs. Hopefully go like 17-7 over this stretch.

Works for me, that would get us to 28-18 and have a great shot at the playoffs.

Moncada and the cannonading blasts behind him bailed out managing that should get you fired. No way should the slow kid be running. On 2-0. To hot Tim. With a first timer peeing down his leg on the mound.

Just gift him a second out. especially after Mendick had just executed a perfect hit and run.

Oh, I agree with everything you say in your last post . But I guess we have different definitions of "lucky." They took advantage of bad pitching by executing -- hitting the ball over the wall four times. It's not like they scored six runs on duck snorts or broken bat flares. Regardless, nice to get a win and I thought Keuchel looked good [again].

I'm really looking forward to seeing what the offense is like when TA and Madrigal are both healthy. From the games we have seen, those two definitely set the table and the mood...Was there any work if Keuchel was ok?

Did we lose this game? You'd think we did based on some of the posts I'm reading. Some people seem to be critical for the sake of being critical. We won. Can't we just be happy with that and that alone?

I was seething right along with you. The four HR's don't make bad baseball seem good.
Ah, you can't beat fun at the old ball park.

Was it a busted play? Mendick was supposed to draw a throw so Mazara could score, and Mazara missed a sign? That’s the only excuse I can come up with for what at the time looked like a critical mistake.
