  • Beef History: Ozzie Guillen vs. Bobby Jenks

Honestly don't remember a lot of this, but that's probably because a lot of things were going wrong for the Sox during this period, so it was hard to keep track of them all.

What a pathetic mess this team has been at times.

I had no idea. I'll always remember Ozzie making the "big tall guy" gesture to bring in Jenks in 2005.

Is Bobby Jenks the best White Sox closer of my lifetime? Probably not since I was born in 1986 and Bobby Thigpen was a thing while I was a toddler but he's the most memorable White Sox closer for me personally and IMO had a top-tier entrance music/video combination. Rarely do you see a marriage of closer and band as perfect as Bobby Jenks and POD.

I would add Roberto Hernandez to that list.

I was just getting into baseball when the White Flag Trade happened, but even I knew something was wrong with shipping him, Alvarez and Baines out at the same time.

            Baines was not involved.

The Sox sent Alvarez, Hernandez and Danny Darwin to the Giants in the "White Flag Trade". Baines was shipped out a day or so before that if I recall correctly to the Orioles.

It's weird looking back and knowing they got Foulke, Howry, Barcelo, and Caruso in that trade...

They actually got six guys, two never appeared in a Sox uniform, Caruso was a "one year wonder." Barcelo couldn't stay healthy. Foulke and Howry were the only one to really make an impact.
