Editorial: Time for the Sox to shine and show Chicago’s not just a Cubs town - Chicago Tribune
Of course there was an ownership change at the Tribune after they unloaded the Cubs, but still.......

For those who can't read beyond the paywall, I'll sum it up for you:
Why can't the Sox be more popular like the Cubs and the Bears??!!! Everyone remembers the '85 Bears, the 90s Bulls, the Kane-era Hawks, and the 2016 Cubs! It's time for the Sox to step up and make themselves known! Oh, and the Chicago Tribune editorial board thinks Disco Demolition Night was "undeniably racist".

Hey, this is an improvement for the Trib. 16 years ago, they celebrated the start of the Sox playoff run by running a front-page story about how the area around what was then called The Cell reeked of pot-smoke.

The Tribune may no longer own our Cubbies, but they haven’t changed one bit.

It was what drew me to the forums in the first place.

They can't help themselves, can they? Even after a four-year bankruptcy, then handing millions to former executives, selling their iconic building, skipping out after not paying rent on their space, and operating out of spare rooms in the printing plant, they still regard themselves as arbiters of taste and class.

This really is rich. Sadly, the Tribune is like King Lear, thrashing around empty rooms cursing the fates. Even now, when the paper is a shell of its former self, they're still worried about their standing with the Cubbie demographic they've attached themselves to for generations. It's too bad we can't link to the old threads where George Knue, the Tribune's digital sports editor, engaged us in ongoing debates about the paper's conflict of interest during the 30+ years they owned the Cubs. Those debates really were epic.

But now it's simply sad because they're not a threat anymore -- they're just annoying.

LOL at the back-handed comments in this editorial piece. Gotta love how the Trib spends much more time covering the Cubs this year and now bemoans why Sox players aren't household names. Maybe we can translate it into a Cubune headline.

Can the Sox Shed Their Undeniably Racist Past and Finally Shine in Chicago?
                • No equivalent on the South Side to the '85 Bears, '16 Cubs, Jordan Bulls, and Kane Hawks!
                • Konerko, Buehrle, Thomas, AJ, Ozzie Who? 2005 What?
                • Area around GRF has made great strides since the pot-smoking days of 2005, but it's no Wrigleyville
                • Veeck and Dahl - Purveyors of Hate (pg. 10)
                White Sox Division Titles: 1983, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2021

Really? The story of Veeck and Dahl being hateful on page 10? That would be on Page 1! 😁

Also, I should have waited a few hours; I could have added this:
                    • Paul Sullivan Takes a Look Back at Jim Kaat's Three Years on the South Side
                    White Sox Division Titles: 1983, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2021

Kaat had a terrific stint with the Sox. 20 game winner twice, made the All-Star team once.

Sullivan: Were Kaat’s views acquired during three year stint with undeniably racist White Sox?
