  • *OFFICIAL* 8/7 Friday Night Special SOX 2 CLE 0 Postgamer

    Pitching and defense pay off.

Cease lived dangerously throughout but survived. Plus, Engel keeps making a case for regular playing time. Nice job to get back on the right track.

Can’t give up 8 walks (including lots of lead off walks) and expect to win often, but I guess it says something that they made the pitches when they needed to. I didn’t watch the whole game - what happened to Bummer?

Walks and infield singles work for me.

The early report is bicep strain.

Imagine the Sox being given nine free baserunners and still being shut out. This place would implode.

I give credit to Cease because he didn't melt down after all those bad walks. He kept his focus together and got the job done for five innings.

Hoping it might actually be a small turning point for him. Maybe he'll start trusting his stuff more and stop nibbling so much. If he proved anything last night it's that he has the stuff to get guys out in tough spots. Now he just needs to stop creating so many tough spots.

A nice win but what happened to our hitting?

They left it in the freezer at Gates BBQ in Kansas City.

Remind me not to eat there if I ever visit KC again, can't afford to lose 20 yards off my tee shots.

                      BBQ > golf.

Both take way too long, get me drinking and smoking too much, and I'm a mess when it's all said and done. One helps me stay in shape after I do the other. Also, nothing as satisfying in BBQ as a hole out, a 350 yard bomb or draining one from downtown.
