I guess we shot all our bullets Monday night.

    Admirable effort by the pitchers.

Pretty much took the words out of my mouth. I understand that it was a getaway day lineup, too, but that didn't make it any less frustrating.

Sox hit a lot of balls to the warning track today. Not sure what the wind conditions were like but a few of them looked well hit off the bat and just went straight down.

Jake Lamb put together a really nice AB there in the 9th to keep the game alive and then to see Leury just roll over a grounder on a first pitch cutter out of the zone immediately afterwards was pretty deflating. I'm guessing TLR didn't want to use Moncada or Anderson today no matter what since he didn't PH anyone there.

We put our C lineup there. No surprise.

        Our hurlers held their own.

This game counts just as much as any game against NY or BOS so why the hell did we trot out that lineup? On the brightside we would have wasted a Lynn start with this lineup so whatever. A pitiful 5-4 against very mediocre opponents. As per usual we'll see if we can count on Cleveland losing to soften the blow.

Because they have a 10 game division lead and want to give players rest. Expect to see more of this over the next 6 weeks.

I agree with Shingo, they didn’t need to send that lineup out there. All they needed was 2 runs to beat that crap team. And they have a better chance of losing to the Yankees tomorrow. Every win is important, I don’t care how big their lead is. Plus they have a day off Friday.

                Well...

Not a good day is it?

Rodon goes on the IL and the Sox look useless against a pitcher with an ERA of about 5 1/2. Yes they didn't have the best lineup out there, but the starting pitcher was getting beat up for a reason this year, he's not that good...of course, he looks like a Cy Young candidate today.

Sox go 7-5 against the flotsam and jetsam of baseball (Indians, Royals, Cubs, Twins)...that's OK...barely. But except for the series with the Astros and Cubs they haven't looked good since the All-Star break.

Now the gauntlet starts, 14 in a row against some of the best, hottest clubs in the league. Without Rodon who figured to start two or three of those games it's not going to be easy, far from it.

I'd be thrilled if they could go 7-7 in that stretch. But the bottom line mantra remains the same, somehow, someway win at least a game every series, DO NOT get swept...no long losing streaks.

Just a piss poor effort today capping off a lousy day overall.

I've been critical of LaRussa, but one thing he knows better than any of us idiots behind our keyboards is his players and when his players need rest.

I was unable to follow the game today which I consider a lucky break. But dropping two to the last place team is not something to be happy about. But I did see the box score and it appeared that Lopez had another good outing.

                        The Pitchers did their job.

I still wonder why he felt the need to rest three on the same day with a day off on Friday. But as you said, he knows better than us. Maybe.

                            By the numbers...

Sox are now 13-13 since the All-Star break...

10 of those 13 losses have come to teams below .500. This was a stretch where they really had a shot to put themselves in a great position to claim at least partial home field advantage in the playoffs...

Sox are also 1-7 (!!!) in one run games since the All-Star break....

Having a "great" bullpen to close out games doesn't amount to much if you aren't leading in the late innings does it?

Good teams sometimes lose to bad teams. It happens - almost every night. Remain calm.
