Now THAT'S how you shut Donaldson up.

If the top 4 start hitting like they can again, this team is fine. Nice outing from Cease. His curve was ****ing nasty.

Hope Mr. Donaldson liked the ass-kicking tonight. That was well done. Saw a story from a Minnesota writer who said Giolito was actually right in what he said; that Donaldson basically needs to shut up and help his team win more games.

Hope the Sox saved some runs for Thursday because Barrios is a very good pitcher.

And THANK YOU Detroit! (Who has been playing a LOT better the past 10 days and get the Sox over the weekend.)

On a night when the park played small, I thought Cease was about as good as he’s been all year. Impressive stuff from him to keep pace with the big guns in the rotation.

Detroit does in fact deliver the 4th large banana.

I think my favorite stat of the night goes as follows.

The Sox sent 41 men to the plate tonight.
            13 of them scored
            24 were outs.
That's some damned fine run production. Of course when you hit 6 HR and only two of them are solo shots the game gets easy....

The Twins didn't get the memo that the White Sox are dead last in the American League in home runs.

It may be just a coincidence that this home-run fueled blowout of the Twins came after the Donaldson crap. The Twins are getting beaten a lot this year. Sheets and Vaughn homering in the same game probably had more to do with Twins pitching and White Sox development than putting Donaldson in his place.

Since the 3-2 loss in the suspended game, the Sox have scored 27 runs in three games and suddenly they're four games up in the division again.

Vaughn and Sheets have both looked great this series.

Sox are now up 4.0 games on the Indians who were swept by the Tigers in a double header.

If you think that might bode well, take a look at Jake Burger's numbers at Charlotte after missing 3 seasons due to injury.

The Twins are crappy. They are perpetual losers.

Burger indeed is doing very well. He’s hitting RHP (.836) decently, and he’s destroying LHP (1.257).

In Charlotte, Sheets hit great against RHP (.947 OPS), but struggled against LHP (.647 OPS).

Burger also has less of a gap between his home and road splits, than Sheets did.

A bunch of guys seem to be coming out of their month-long slumps, which is great to see. Vaughn with two straight good days against RHP is the most encouraging sight to see. Jose had a walk and the HR that barely cleared the fence, he didn't get all of it but maybe that helps take some of the pressure off of him. Even Yermin, though he didn't have a hit, had two walks which shows he's seeing the ball well. Sheets is showing that he could be the lefty RF we have been looking for all along, but his defense has looked pretty shaky out there - I think at least twice Twins players stretched a single into a double when he was fielding the ball. Grandal continues to show how meaningless his batting average is. He's easily been the team's best hitter over the past month, and you could make a case he's been the best over the entire season.

TA and Moncada still haven't done much, but hopefully the rest of the lineup producing around them will allow them to relax and start to come out of this funk. Once those guys (and Abreu) start to play like they're capable of, the offense will be fine. I like that TLR went with Moncada in the 2-hole. I know it seems to shorten the lineup, but Moncada when he's right is really a perfect #2 hitter so I'd like to see him settle into that spot. At least for one day, the bottom of the lineup stepped up so the lineup didn't seem so short after all.

Pitching wise, it's very nice to see Cease have another solid start after the "sticky stuff" crackdown. When he's got his command of his fastball and curveball he is really really good. Also good to see Crochet with a nice 1-2-3- inning after a rough stretch. I think his first pitch he threw to the backstop, and we were all thinking "here we go again," but after that he settled in and had a nice clean inning.
