  • Your biggest Sox surprises to date

What are the biggest surprises for you on the Sox season to this point?

    Mine are;
    1. Rodon’s elite performance.
    2. The bullpen not being “lights out” every time out (my expectations were maybe more hopeful vs realistic)
    3. The Sox being 6th in all baseball on offense (OPS) with Robert/Jimenez gone.

That TLR hasn't lost it yet at one of the reporters given their questioning his decisions.

Tony was really good with the media when he was younger say in his first Sox stint, but as he got older he became more aloof and taciturn with them. By the time he finished with the Cards he had about as bad a relationship with the media as Terry Bevington did with the Sox.

Good one. It's surprising how many people know what should have been done after the game is over (my sarcastic comment).

Vaughn playing competent defense no matter what position he plays. Given the scouting reports, I was led to believe he was a lumbering oaf.

Mine: there are still Sox fans who think LaRussa is not a Managing God of Gods.

Yermin’s dominant April, Vaughn’s ability to play a competent LF, and the dominance of the pitching staff 1-5.

Good replies so far. Here's another one: the Twins are 14 games behind the Sox in the standings. If someone predicted on opening day that this would be the case on June 11, I would have wondered what they were smoking.

Eloy and Robert are both injured long-term and the Sox have the biggest lead of any division leader.

                  1. Dylan Cease, by a wide margin
                  2. Billy Hamilton
                  3. Carlos Rodon
                  4. The middle relief being bad
                  5. Yasmani Grandal’s slash line

The quality of the starting pitching and also how the Sox have managed to play outstanding Baseball dispite the number of injuries that have befallen them.
Now coming up to bat for the White Sox is the Mighty Mite, Nelson Fox.

I thought the strength of the team would be the bullpen, then the lineup, then the starting pitching. It’s been the opposite.

That so many key players are gone and they still are managing to win.

A pleasant surprise in what Billy Hamilton has done. I didn't expect him to hit like he has. I had him figured for defensive / baserunning replacement. Glad I was wrong, especially with the injuries the team has had.
