    Billy Hamilton since May 12th:

    .300/.293/.625

    Yasmani Grandal since April 29th:

    .140/.458/.380

Billy’s AVG being higher than his OBP during this span is priceless. Nobody in his right mind is risking a walk to Billy Hamilton. His response? A .325 ISO. Yes, a nice portion of that ISO is speed-related, but look at this guy’s spray chart. He’s not just legging out slow-rolling weak singles into doubles; he’s also hitting the ball to the wall with authority and getting triples where other guys would get doubles. It’s not all about the ball leaving the park, but you do need to maximize the quality of your contact. For the first time in his career, Billy is showing signs of that.

You know what would be a fun outfield alignment, just for ****s and giggles? Hamilton/Robert/Engel.

Hamilton has been a very pleasant surprise, and he’s become a fan favorite with his hustle and that he always seems to be smiling (at least when he doesn’t have track marks across his face.... that looked like he was in pain the other day). Still, I would be surprised if he’s still on the team once Robert and Engel are both back, unless there are more injuries to outfielders.

Someone will play his way into a DFA by that point. The problem is that they may keep inferior crap around if the salary is nontrivial.

Get Adam Eaton and Leury Garcia the **** off this team as soon as it’s feasible to do so. Hamilton, Engel, Mendick, and Lamb all have more to offer.
