Once again, MLB hires reporters who do not do their homework and read WSI to see what a train wreck the White Sox are.
These 10 teams 'won' the winter (mlb.com)
The White Sox are a team that "won" this winter?

They certainly didn’t lose, in my opinion. Maybe not top 5 offseason winner, but they plugged some glaring holes. They still have work to do, but when you are looking at teams that are dropping guys for nothing due to the pandemic, the moves look good in comparison to much of the league.

Well, since the article failed to mention WAR, VORP, PECOTA, or ZIPS, I’m not sure what to make of it.

We have several winter championship trophies. Don't mean a lick.

Yeah but the Padres' winter championship trophy does 🙄

Hey I stopped predicting the Padres to win the WS when the Dodgers signed Bauer.

I'd still rather be the Padres than the Sox right now, but we'll see. The two teams are in similar places with their rebuild but could not have taken more different approaches to the offseason in 2020 - 2021.

The offseason winners focus a lot more on bargains and quantity than it does on how much teams actually improve. And while I think adding a veteran starter to what last season ended up being a 1 and a half man rotation improved us, we are not nearly as improved as other teams - nor do I think we improved enough.

The White Sox continue to refuse to sign any more starting pitching despite the back end of the rotation being questionable and coming off a season where pitchers didn't throw a lot of innings. They are playing with fire and you know how that often turns out.

It's a sad reality we know too well here.

This is true but RH or KW can't buy with no money.

I've often wondered especially with how competitive Williams is if he just doesn't get frustrated over the limitations put on the organization. At the same time though if things are that bad you wonder why he and Hahn just don't quit especially with the interference from the owner in baseball related issues.

I have to imagine that both KW and Hahn are also realists. They are probably well compensated and Reinsdorf offers more job security than almost any other owner.
