  • FanGraphs puff piece on 2021 Sox bullpen

The signing of Liam Hendriks is a major addition to a bullpen that was already loaded with upside.

    Puff piece? 🤔

Not all of these arms are going to make a big impact at the major league level. Injuries, sophomore slumps, and other potential obstacles could step in and take the legs out from under this group. But the possibilities presented by a bullpen like this are hard not to get excited about.
Optimism with caution is not exactly what I would describe as a Brooks Boyer sunshine and rainbows marketing piece. Should we march on the MLB Network studios for calling the White Sox the favorites in the AL?

      Agreed.

Puff pieces are just unsupported conjecture. Fangraphs uses facts to support their conclusions.

The thing about Nightengale is that he clearly has a source within the organization. Often his reporting is pushing the organization's agenda, but if you understand that when reading it it's actually informative in trying to understand what the front office is thinking/trying to do.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply too many negative connotations. Just wanted to say "Hey look, Fangraphs is saying something positive about the Sox!"

Very true, it's just hard to take anything he says as objective journalism due to his strong ties to the front office. I view him more as a cheerleader with insider info.

Fangraphs released their Zips projections for the upcoming season and it projects Giolito to have the highest WAR of any pitcher.

Sounds good to me...regardless of Nightengale's history, I'm putting on a happy-face for now.
