    That's true, but the splits that I could find and referenced above listed run support, not run differential.

      Ah thanks for the clarification.

      Another possible mitigating factor is quality of competition. Teams that are more likely to give up 6 runs are probably more likely to score less runs due to overall team quality or tanking factors.
