Step one to building a contender is to win the games you're supposed to. We're there. We had a schedule full of cake and ate all the cake better than anyone.
Step two is beating the good teams and the tough pitchers. We simply can't do that yet. Pitching is a shade under that level (which we probably knew going into the season), and the offense's over-aggressive approach is likely more susceptible to elite pitching. This offseason will be key.

Just not hitting; hopefully it turns around. Bullpen is over-worked because the young starters can barely get 6 on a good day. Pen basically down to 4 trustworthy pitchers and a couple of other guys you can throw in there to start a clean 5th or 6th inning. Having a starter in the pen in the playoffs should extend the pen some, though.
Rickey/Cooper have been kind of neutral most of the season to me, but they're starting to spit the bit a bit.Last edited by Tragg; 09-23-2020, 09:02 PM.

Still 4 games left. Win tomorrow and we're tied for 1st again. Cincinnati is fighting for a playoff spot so those games should be tough. Yes we get the Cubs who have a playoff spot already secured and will have probably secured the division as well. Not saying that those games won't be easy. We just have to match the total number of wins over the weekend that the Twins end up with as we hold the tie breaker over them.
But we need to win tomorrow. (Thursday)Last edited by jcw218; 09-24-2020, 11:41 AM.
