  • What actually goes on in Schaumburg?

What are these guys doing there? Are they playing games, or is it batting practice and bullpen sessions?

Probably primarily the latter, but I'm guessing they play some pickup type games also just for fun and experience under real live competition situations.

James Fegan, perhaps having read this thread, went to Schaumburg today and posted a ton of videos to Twitter. Looks like they were playing a simulated game today.

During that simulated game, Nick Madrigal crushed a home run to left that struck two-thirds the way up the LF scoreboard. I think he’s ready to return.

Or the way a pessimist sees it, Jonathan Stiever gave up a towering home run to Nick Madrigal in a brutal simulated outing.

But yes Madrigal's shoulder seemed functional, and Fegan speculated that he might play in MLB as early as today.

Here's an article by Fegan about the players working at Schaumburg, including updates on a few of our top prospects. This article includes a video clip of that Madrigal shot off the scoreboard.

Sounds exactly like the EST I miss attending so badly, down here. Minus games with other squads.
