  • 2022 MiLB season is here

Charlotte got things kicked off on their 2022 season, starting an hour or so ago. Here's a team preview from SoxMachine: https://soxmachine.com/futuresox/202...ghts-triple-a/

Carlos Perez got the first regular season HR among White Sox affiliated players, a solo shot to tie it up 1-1.

The Knights with a big day at the plate, putting up 13 runs, including a 6-spot in the 10th to move to 2-1 on the season. Highlights based on the box score:
    • Lambert with a nice start to his season, giving up 1 run in 3 innings. Hopefully another year removed from TJS and he can put together a solid season and provide some rotation depth for the big league club. A couple years ago before the injury he looked like he could at least be a bullpen piece.
    • Carlos Perez with his second HR and second double on the season. He's a defense-first C, but he's off to a solid start offensively.
    • Some guy I've never heard of (Kivlehan, a 1B) was 3-5 with a HR and 2B
    • Kubat gave up 3 runs in 2 innings, and Severino also gave 1 up

W/S: Oscar Colas made his MiLB debut tonight and went 2 for 4 and Bryan Ramos 3 for 4 (HR).
      B'ham: Yolbert 2 for 3 and Cespedes 0 for 4
Outrighted players in Charlotte: Seby 2 for 4 (2B) and Rutherford 0 for 4.

I didn't realize Luis Basabe is back with the Sox organization.
      White Sox Division Titles: 1983, 1993, 2000, 2005, 2008, 2021

        No one wants him.

            Also at AA:
Jose Rodriguez also was 0/3 BB R Played SS
Yolbert Sanchez was 0/1 BB 2 HBP R Played 2B
Dominguez pitched 5 scoreless giving up 0 R on 3 H with 7 K and 0 BB. He got moved up aggressively last season and I think finished the season for a few weeks at AAA, but he was always projected at AA this year. He's 26, but might be someone we see in the bullpen this or next year at minimum.

WS Colas was only 1/4 but he did not strike out.

AAA Gonzales was 0/3 but took two BB he played SS. I imagine he's being told to work on taking pitches. He only had 1 K

I’d assume Micker joining AAA any day now…

Wow - I figured some bottom feeder team would pick him up. Hopefully he stays injury free and can work on his hitting at AAA this year.

Brian Ramos with his second HR of the young season. Remember this is the prospect that ZiPS (FanGraphs computer algorithm) ranked something like 20th in all of MiLB this year. He has maybe the highest ceiling of any position player in the system other than Montgomery.

Kanny seems to be making a statement that it's not 2021 anymore. Scored another 18 runs today and is off to a 3-0 start. 8/9 starters scored and they did not hit a single HR in the process.

I think now we see why Rick did not trade him.

                      Nobody wants him.

I didn't realize anyone was ranking him so high among all MiLB players. He only just turned 20.

Not “somebody,” “some computer.” It’s based only on the numbers.

Below is the link to the article, which has Ramos at Sox Clubhouse It has all the caveats you’d expect from a system that doesn’t use scouting, but notes that it has identified some under-the-radar prospects in the past, including JT Realmuto, Ozzie Albies, and Trea Turner. It also devoted a paragraph to Ramos in the write up.

ZiPS projects its top 100 prospects, hopefully without looking too silly in five years.

Oscar Colas with a LOUD double off the top of the wall. He’s off to a good start for the Dash.
