  • MLB updated prospects top 100 UPDATED from draft results

    https://www.mlb.com/prospects/top100/

    A couple of realizations:

Except for Andrew Vaughn, we have no top 100 prospects outside of guys who are already major leaguers (Robert, Kopech, Madrigal). We're at the point where what you see is what you get, at least in terms of bringing up star players.

Neither Garret Crochet nor Jared Kelley made the top 100. I do expect that to change once they've pitched...but there are plenty of guys on this list that were drafted and haven't played.

Outside of Cleveland, who has one player in the top 50, our division is really well represented in this list. Detroit - 5, Minnesota - 4, and KC 4. None of these players have graduated yet.

Detroit might turn around in a hurry. All 5 of their guys are top 50, 3 in the top 25, and 2 in the top 10.

SoxMachine compares the top 10 prospect lists across 7 major sites:

And with a minor league season in doubt, an uncertain draft, and who knows what will happen with international signings, the only thing likely to change about our overall system rankings in the next 6-9 months is top prospects like Robert and Kopech graduating from these lists.

I really hope the Sox are being progressive in how they are working remotely with their prospects continually to prove their conditioning, nutrition, and baseball skills, during this pandemic.

Basabe at #11. It would be a significant failure to lose him for nothing, though we don’t know yet if he’ll be claimed.

Our top 9: Robert, Vaughn, Madrigal and six starting pitchers (not quite in that order; Kopech was ahead of Madrigal).

Norge Vera does not make the list.

Burger still at #17 for no good reason.

Adolfo and Basabe have no business being ranked higher than Rutherford or Gonzalez.
